This weekend was a blast!! First, it was my birthday on Saturday, so during the week Sharon and I went to the store to get food and stuff to prepare for the party at Islanders Bar on Friday. 8E Plus was playing there on Saturday as part of some benefit for a girl that liked pills and just happened to overdose. Surprised? Coincidence? No. So anyway, Sharon had the idea of having the party on Friday night instead. I knew she was smart. So anyway, Friday she spent a lot of the day getting things ready, making Jello Shots, sandwiches, buying a table cloth and setting it up at the bar, a surprise cherry cheesecake her son's girlfriend and herself decorated, and much more. The jello shots were Orange & Vodka (screwdrivers) and Lime & Tequila (margaritas). We got to the bar at about 9 and set everything up, and played pool, drank rum & coke, jello shots, and partied with all the friends that showed up (Sharon has a lot of pull on that kind of thing!) Eventually she pulled out the cheesecake she had delivered earlier in the day (and woke up early to start making, I found out later) and our friend Tempe cut it. Gotta say, the cheesecake was pretty superb, and was decorated just awesome. It was a real fun time. A tradition at Islanders is when there is a DJ playing and they find out it's your birthday, they announce it and throw a chair for you in the middle of the dance floor to get lap-dances. They really made me go out there, and so I guess I really let a few girls violate my personal space for a few mins. Lol. It was all in fun.
Saturday we woke up and took off for Pearland to walk around the flea market and look at all the cool, well, junk that everyone is selling. Those things are always a lot of fun if you've never been before. Afterwards to went to a place we had been to 2 or 3 weeks earlier where she had seen a nice sized rectangular table she liked and wanted to come back and buy. We found out the table had been marked down to $37 and decided to snag it, cool deal! It looks a little rough, but she wants to sand down some of the raised blemishes to make the surface more even, and paint the whole table black. She also has 6 chairs to paint black and reupholster... anyway, it's going to be a cool project. She's going to put pictures on the table top and clear-coat the top of the table again, it should look wicked!!
We got back from Pearland at about 4:30 and she had found out a friend of hers was going to be in town from San Marcos, so I went to a Birthday dinner with my folks and brother at 6:00. Johnny Carinos is always a favorite. I had sirloin steak, couple glasses of wine, and some cup of cappuchino with a shot of Baileys. I also got a couple presents, including a nice photo album from our family's trip to Big Bend National Park last summer. So we finished, I picked up something to drink later at the bar, and went back to the house. I even had time to take a nap, and her friend Leary showed up at about 8:30 or so! So we get to the bar about 10:30 or so and hang out with friends and listen to the band, it was a great time!! Someone tried to steal the bottle of rum I had bought earlier, and we scoured the whole bar until we found it! She said she didn't take it off our table, but Sharon pulled the brown bag from her and found the hairbrush she usually keeps in the bag!! Lets say, after Sharon was done Talking to her we think the girl might think twice before walking off with someone else's bottle of liquor. Her boyfriend also had something to say and tried to defend her, and after getting physical with Sharon, he got kicked out of the bar. We heard later he wasn't any smarter outside the bar than he was inside the bar, tried to violate some more peoples respect outside and got his ass kicked. Stomped. Thumped. you pick the word, he got "dealt with". Haha. Anyway, so we left and came back to the house and ended the night after she told the story to a few people.
Sunday, Sharon, Leary and I went and got breakfast tacos and went to look at the house that Sharon is trying to close on. We got back to the house, stayed a little while and put some ribs in the oven. Leary left and we went to Lowe's to pick up some black paint and wood putty and stuff to make sure we can start working on that table. I'm really looking forward to eating some ribs later on and getting some sleep for the work week to start tomorrow. That was my weekend, and it was good!!!
